Engagement shoots are the cutest, and they might just be my favorite. There’s something really fresh and exciting about capturing pictures of two people in love before the Big Day, before the couple embarks on their amazing journey of marriage. I love watching couples interact – the way they look at each other, the initial awkwardness and giggling and “Where do I put my hands?” “How do we pose?” “Like this?” “Do we look at each other or look at you?”. With time, they warm up, and that’s when the real magic happens! The shots become more natural/”candid” and less “posed”.
I am always extremely humbled and honored when I’m asked to do an engagement shoot. I always joke around with my boyfriend about how picky I would be about the photographer of my engagement/wedding, because it’s a BIG DEAL! I would easily budget the most money to the photography/videography for my wedding – and everyone can have tacos (sorry, not sorry). So, naturally, when Natalie approached me to take her and Quang’s engagement pictures, I was ecstatic yet fully prepared to take this job seriously. I put a lot of pressure on myself to produce great photos, because that is what I would want out of my own photographer.
Quang and Natalie were so fun and such a joy to photograph! They have been together for a long time, so that natural comfort with each other was immediately shown when we started the shoot.
And then they started skipping… 🙂
We ended the shoot at Irvine Spectrum – where they had their first date. The carousel was adorable.
It was an absolutely lovely day with these two. So happy for them!!!
